About the Campaign

The University maintains a combined farmland of approximately 1600 acres that includes hay meadows, Brangus and Hereford cows, a brand new poultry facility, green houses, and a community garden. The SAU Farm is a living laboratory and provides a unique opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a hands-on learning environment. The farm is one of the largest employers of students, who are a workforce to maintain the land and facilities. Over the years, our resources to employee students on the farm has decreased due to budget cuts as well as the increase in labor costs.

Thus, our goal is to raise $5,000 for the Porterfield Fund to provide additional funds to employ more students on the farm and to keep our farm thriving.
