SAU exhibit features donated dinosaur skeletal casts

Southern Arkansas University’s FOSSUS (from the earth) dinosaur exhibit made its debut on March 16 at the Southwest Arkansas Regional Science Fair held at SAU. The educational exhibit was recently donated to the University by Saundra Van Cleef Lewis, Dr. Charles McGahey, and the family of Roger Van Cleef .

Cast from original skeletal dinosaur remains, the collection features life-sized skull reproductions of the big three Cretaceous Period contemporaries: Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops horridus and Edmontosaurus annectens (duckbilled dinosaur).

“Stan” the T-REX skull is molded from a skeleton found in South Dakota and stands 5’ tall by 3’ wide. Members of the SAU horticulture class staged a variety of plants to enhance the display which was enjoyed by science fair participants from the region.
