Southern Arkansas University is proud to introduce the Mulerider Next Step Guarantee program, launching with the freshman class of 2025. This groundbreaking initiative underscores SAU’s dedication to preparing students for professional success after graduation. The program is unique in Arkansas, offering a bold promise: graduates who meet program requirements will secure a full-time job in their field or gain admission to graduate or professional school within six months of graduation.
EMPOWERING STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE
The Mulerider Next Step Guarantee is more than a promise; it’s a comprehensive approach to career readiness. From their first day on campus, students participate in workshops, internships, and personalized career coaching designed to build their skills and experiences to excel. The program ensures students are fully equipped to navigate the modern job market or pursue advanced education by focusing on essential competencies such as communication, teamwork, and critical thinking.
SUPPORT BEYOND GRADUATION
The program doesn’t stop at graduation. If eligible students don’t achieve their career goals within six months, SAU steps in with additional resources to enhance their readiness. Options include tuition-free enrollment in up to nine additional undergraduate credit hours or a combination of six credits and a paid internship. These measures provide practical experience and targeted skill development to help graduates succeed.

The Mulerider Next Step Guarantee builds on the robust support SAU Career Services provides. With a proven track record of guiding students toward successful careers, Career Services is central to implementing this initiative. Anne Sands, director of Career Services, emphasized the program’s impact: “This initiative is a powerful message to our students, parents, and community that we are dedicated to their success.
