Rip Powell Tournament

Alumni and friends of the University gathered at the Magnolia Country Club on March 17 to honor the memory of long-time Mulerider football coach Rip Powell with the Rip Powell Invitational Golf Tournament. The event was sponsored by the SAU Foundation with proceeds benefiting the “Rip Powell Society.” Funds from the Society will be used to name the football field at Wilkins Stadium in Powell’s honor and to make improvements at the field. The golf tournament raised more than $11,000 with more than 90 golfers participating.
