Governor to Dedicate New Buildings May 10

Governor  Orval Faubus will be guest speaker at the Dedication ceremonies to be held on the Southern State College campus the afternoon of Sunday, May 10, according to President Imon E. Bruce.

Four new buildings, constructed since Dr. Bruce became president of the college in September 1959, will be dedicated – the College Center, the Field House, Talbot Hall, and the other new men’s dormitory which will be in use by September.

All Former Students are urged to attend the Dedication and to see for themselves the changes which are rapidly making Southern State one of the most modern, well-equipped liberal arts colleges in Arkansas.

Guests, including state officials, members of the Legislature and Former Students, will be invited to tour the campus between noon and 2:00 p.m., when the SSC conert band will play a concert in the Field House.

The Governor will dedicate the buildings at a service beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at the Field House. He will be introduced by Dr. John H. Wilson, chairman of the Southern State College board of trustees.
